......Either i'm ironic, either i'm not. pick the one you prefer.
Ahem, anyway, this is gonna be a short, non-illustrated post cause it's absolutely late and that i definitely need to get some rest and relax. SO ! that "The rose trims again" DVD. i'm gonna bitch around for a bit CAUSE it's WAY too EXPENSIVE and WHY the HELL are american ALWAYS privileged ? -__- I mean damn, they got their damn tour a few month ago and now they get a DVD, and here in Europe we still don't know if they're ever gonna come back, WHILE they said "We're preparing our next US tour again"... Why yes, i'm jealous. I have the right to.
70€ for the 3cd edition, 50€ for the BASIC ONE. They gotta be kidding me. I thought there was like, an international economy disaster lately ? I thought so at least. Dir en grey forgot it, visibly.
So... Yes, this time i'm definitely not gonna buy this dvd. Unless i find it a VERY reasonnable price, which isn't going to happen, ever SO i can say i won't have it in my collection. Sorry, as much as i love this band, 50€ for just ONE DVD, for a tour that was, moreover, everywhere but in europe, no thanks. Matter of fact, i barely took a look at the setlist. Just felt like a complete idiot thinking Dir en grey think we're all gonna put 70€ in this dvd.
*sigh* Still, please, come back to Europe. lol

*crosses fingers* …I hope so at least. They're coming to Europe for a festival, that's for sure, if I'm right in Sweden (I read it a thousand times and I'm not even sure anymore, really…*sigh*) I so would like to see them again… so, I guess I just have to wait and see. And pray. XD
(Why yes, that IS a useless post.)
Oh, wait, better :
(i'm moking my own self, srsly XD)
:D *happy I got it* XD Well, being the Toshiya fan I am, I NEEDED to get my hands on this thing XD And I did, yay~ !! (XD) Was pretty expensive for a Magazine but way cheaper than all the ones I found in November that sold out fast actually XD So I had mine for at least half of the original price (thanks to Gabrielle ^^). :)
So… These scans have been a PAIN to host since they were all bigger than 3MB (one was actually 6.19MB, even in jpeg format XD) and that I definitely didn't wanna pay for an account on a random host site… So, sadly, yeah, I got to resize them a bit, and most of all, lessen the quality like… around 60% ;__; They're still huge scans though, but not the quality I'd like them to be :( (especially the second page ;___;)
Huge is the right word I think, yeah XD you'll probably think it's too big for a scan and that it's totally useless, but I just love huge scans/pics and if you want them smaller resize them yourself XD
I just scanned the photos so far. I don't think I'll scan the other pages since people did it already, and also translated the interview so they don't need bigger scans. I tried having the small blue pic as big as possible cause I wasn't satisfied with the scan I found so I thought I shouldn't be the only one XD ah, and I scanned the cover a second time, just centred on Totchi's face though. So it's even bigger than the first XD Weirdly my scanner decided changing the colours quite much between these two scans so it looks a bit… odd in the end O_o
But enjoy anyway ! :D

Dir en grey’s 8th album is out… On Tuesday 11th in the USA (which is tomorrow, yes), and on the 12th in Japan and Europe. But despite that, some mystic powers I have permitted me to listen to it already *ahem* and so here comes my little review.
Uroboros Review
by Semichan
1 - Sa bir [02:00] My rating : 6/10. Urr… Pretty expected when you know how they described the album. Oriental… and mysterious. Though, that’s way too repetitive. But that’s just an instrumental intro after all.
2 – Vinushka [09:37] My rating : 7/10 The beginning is very oriental-ish here too. Well, just read the title anyway. So this isn’t the most original song of the album nor the best but it certainly is really different from anything we could hear from Dir en grey in 10 years. Lots of changes of rhythms in this song… Which is kinda logical since it lasts almost 10 minutes. The end of the song sounds better than the beginning to me. Maybe I should have rated it 8 finally.
3 - Red Soil [03:24] My rating : 9/10 I heard the radio premiere a little while ago now, and actually liked it. I was rather surprised to hear harpsichord in it first since that’s so not Diru-like but that’s actually what’s good. For once you really feel like hearing NEW things.
4 - 慟哭と去りぬ [Doukoku to Sarinu] [03:48] My rating : 8/10 Just as for ‘Vinushka’, I found the beginning a bit long and the end totally awesome. Especially the last minute.
5 - 蜷局 [Toguro] [03:58] My rating : 10/10 I love it ! probably my fav of the album. At the very beginning I wasn’t really convinced but quickly I was like “…Well, I think I’ll definitely love that album”. I’ll never say that enough : Kyo is back and damn, that’s good. This song’s really beautiful.
6 - Glass skin (album vers) [04:28] My rating : 7/10 Pretty astonishing to hear the whole song in English. Weird but cool. The original song is wonderful, so… (yeah, I’m pretty euphoric right now)
7 - Stuck Man [03:35] My rating : 5/10 Ah, here comes the song I didn’t like much in the album. Lots of bass in it… unexpected sonorities and Kyo almost rapping. And then it becomes metal… then a bit jazzy again with a really obvious bass… and then metal again. It’s like that during 3 minutes. Ah no sorry, it slows down at a moment. That’s a pretty weird instant of the album btw.
8 - 冷血なりせば [Reiketsu Nariseba] [03:33] My rating : 4/10 Weird ! really oriental-ish sounding again. So that’s the song I liked the less in Uroboros. It’s worth listening to it though, cause it’s again a pretty unexpected song.
9 - 我、闇とて・・・ [Ware, yami tote…] [07:02] My rating : 10/10 WONDERFUL ! That’s actually the first song I got to listen to from this album (save for Dozing green, Glass skin, and Red soil of course). There’re lots of mixes in it and it can be rather surprising but it comes out really well. One of my fav, definitely. *Adds to all times favorite Diru songs playlist* Really, the more I listen to it the more I think this could have been in the FFX OST. Some moments are really sounding like an FFX song to me… That’s really personal I know (lol), but I really felt that when I listened to it even for the first time.
10 - Bugaboo [04:44] My rating : 6/10. Nice but not wonderful. Nothing more to say really.
11 - 凱歌、沈黙が眠る頃 [Gaika, Chinmoku Ga Nemuru Koro] [04:22] My rating : 7/10. Makes me think of church-like sounding metal bands (lol), really not Diru like so ! Some other songs of the album also sound that way, so I guess that’s what Kaoru was explaining when he said there would be a religious side in this album. That, plus some instruments they used of course.
12 - Dozing green (album vers) [04:06] My rating : 8/10 ... As weird as Glass Skin sounded in English
to me, Dozing green is much better.
13 - Inconvenient Ideal [04:24] My rating : 10/10 I love that one too. Yeah I know, that’s pretty weird having me saying nice things about Dir en grey even though they’re my fav band right ? That’s just because MOAB wasn’t good and that it made me become REALLY pessimistic about every new releases they made in 2 years. Makes me recall that when I actually received this album, I didn’t find it bad first and even wrote on that blog “I liked ‘the Marrow of a bone’” (I saw that a while ago and couldn’t help but laugh…). That’s one really, really funny thing. I guess I was half-deaf then. Anyway, Inconvenient Ideal is a really good song to finish an album.
14 - Glass skin (Jap) [04:29] My rating : 10/10 I love Glass Skin, that’s a known fact now. It’s really the song I needed from Dir en grey after two years bearing the majority of the songs from MOAB. I mean damn, what did I REALLY like in this album ? save for “Namamekashiki Ansoku tamerai ni hohoemi”… maybe ”Ryojouku no Ame”… “Clever sleazoid” ? Well no, I didn’t even like the album version. “Conceived Sorrow” was a good song but not unforgettable… So well, hopefully Uroboros is here now.
15 - Dozing green (Jap) [04:08] My rating : 10/10 I love Dozing green too. I must admit that when it’s been released a year ago now I already was pretty comforted seeing it was slightly different from the songs we got in MOAB.
Conclusion... When they said they wanted to go back to a pre-withering to death Era with this album…Well they weren’t lying, see there’s a 10mins song in Uroboros, they actually never did that again since Macabre. They weren't lying but somehow that wasn't especially true either… If they meant "We're going back to a pre-withering to Death era musically" then it's definitely not a success, but if they were meaning "We're doing something different because 'The Marrow of a Bone' was kind of a failure"… then they really succeeded. Uroboros is one good album, but it doesn't resemble any other of their previous albums to me. Which -is- a good point ! I also wanted to add that the most enjoyable thing here is the fact Kyo’s -singing- . That might sound weird, but hey, when you know their precedent albums, well, when you know all their discography and that, suddenly, ‘the marrow of a bone’ comes out… You’re like “What the…?” No really, it’s not the fact they became much more metal that’s a problem, listen to Vulgar and Withering to death, (and even Kisou!) they’re all quite heavy albums, but damn, they were well made and Kyo was singing ! Songs were melodious and well yes, another thing, there were interesting LYRICS. Cause MOAB was just a bunch of “fuck”, “fuck you” “fuck off” and other nice words. They said “it took us a whole year to make MOAB”… Sorry if I don’t believe that, MOAB looks and mostly sounds like an album which has been made in a few months, and I’m being nice. -_-' n Anyway, Uroboros is a big relief for me, and I guess it’ll be so for lots of other fans as well. But I also know it’ll be a big deception for another half of fans, that’s for sure… I can't wait to receive the copy I pre-ordered 3 months ago now :)
Final rating for Uroboros :
7.13 / 10
for a total of 15 titles !
